Ukrainian helicopter shot down by rebels
On Thursday a Ukrainian army helicopter was shot down by pro-Russian separatists during heavy fighting around the city of Slovyansk, Ukrainian President Olexander Turchynov informed. 14 people, including a general were killed in the attack.
Also on Thursday one of the militant groups announced that they captured four observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and that they would be released soon.
"I addressed the OSCE mission to warn them that their people should not over the coming week travel in areas under our control. And they decided to show up anyway," the rebel leader said.
The conflict in eastern Ukraine has been intensifying this week since Monday when about 100 separatists died attempting to seize the airport in Donetsk.
