Juncker: Weidmann suitable candidate for ECB President

The European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, in an interview to Handelsblatt newspaper published on Thursday,  said that Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann would be a suitable candidate to become the next ECB President after Mario Draghi’s mandate expires in November.

Key points:

   •  Does not share the opinion that a German cannot become ECB president.
   •  Says that Weidmann is a convinced European and experienced central banker.
