US equities open softly Monday

FXstreet.com (New York) - The US stock market experienced a tepid opening Monday, with indices mostly creeping higher in the absence of any major catalysts.

In the United States, the Chicago Fed National Activity Index (June) was reported at -0.13, missing expectations of 0.0.

Beginning with the indices and composites, the NASDAQ rose +0.23% as it settles in region of 3596.09, up +8.48 points in these moments. In addition, the S&P 500 is trading in positive territory, operating at 1685.29, ascending +1.09 points or +0.06% at the time of writing. Finally, the Dow Jones has moved higher at the opening, trading in the zone of 15536.75, presently -0.04% after a movement of -6.99 points.

Sectors are all mixed at the opening, however the Energy and Healthcare sectors have distinguished themselves as the winners thus far, rising +0.77% and +0.85% respectively. Moreover, the price of gold has settled at $1320.52 per oz., while silver is now negotiating a spot price of $20.26 per oz. Monday.
